Really didn’t feel like working out today… I just want to stay in bed all day, researching good place to go in Puerto Rico, and get up to do some final packing before bed.
BUT NO! Can’t be lazy and so short-sighted.
So I got my ass off the bed (excuse my language) and dragged Dan to the gym.
I used the stationary bike for 25 minutes, did backward elliptical for 20 minutes, and ran on treadmill for 30.
And while I was on the treadmill, I was also doing some quiet self-reflection because I didn’t have my headphones.
So I’ve lost about 8 pounds since February. That’s not too bad in 6 weeks. Although personally, I thought I would’ve lost more because I’ve been working out almost 7 days a week, and on average an hour a day, doing both cardio and strength training. My calorie intake rarely exceeds 1500. I also eat SO CLEAN… like 99% superfood and 1% treats just to keep myself going for longer. Tracking my diet using myfitnesspal whenever possible, and I balance good fat, complex carb, and lean protein.
I then wonder, how much fat and muscle have I lost? I mean, I don’t really see any significant physical change. I tried to use measuring tape, but it’s hard to tell if I’ve been losing inches at all.
I do believe that my arms look slightly smaller. The jeans that used to fit well seems looser, and the ones that used to be tight seems to fit better. But then again, I can’t be sure if this is just psychological.
My calves and outer thighs have always been more or less muscular, and my inner thighs are still jiggly. My triceps are still fat. I still find love handles. And what drives me crazy—my waist still isn’t as small as I want it to be. I checked my waist measurement for the first time in the second week of March. It’s been about 3 weeks. Why hasn’t my waist gone down? Is the changes too small to detect? Is it that I’m not using the tape right? Or is it that I’m just losing muscles and not fat?
I think I’m just getting very paranoid.
Results…results. The changes on the scale can’t satisfy me. :(
BUT! Being doubtful of my progress only encourages me to work harder. I’ll use this coming week as an active rest week—Eat plenty, hike plenty, swim plenty, and walk plenty in Puerto Rico. When I come back… I’LL BE FRESH AND READY TO PUSH HARDER!!
I’ve heard my clients and other gym goers say plenty of things, and then the result ends up completely different. So here is how I decode what people say…
“I’m going on a diet” - I will eventually stop eating this way and revert to my old habbits.
“I’m tired” - I don’t…

A series of 20 minute work-outs. 2 minute warm-up, three 6-minute circuits (3 min strength, 2 min cardio, 1 min abs), 2 min cool down.
